Scholarships
The Department of Engineering and Technology is committed to making a college education affordable and to helping students who need financial assistance. For many CMU students, scholarships provide an important part of their financial aid package.

Myron and Hazel Georgia Scholarship
The applicant will have a commitment to teaching traditional industrial education classes. Preference will be given to applicants with industrial work experience. Applicant must be a teaching major/minor with a signed E&T authorization for a major/minor and must have a GPA of 3.0 or better. An application form, resume, and teaching objective should be submitted to the E&T Department office. An unofficial transcript must also be received by this date. The scholarship is renewable. Awards of past scholarships have been up to six awards from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00.
Frank and Virginia Irgang Scholarship
Any junior or senior, who is a resident of Michigan with a signed E&T major may apply. Each applicant should have a good academic standing with involvement in service activities in E&T Department and CMU. Application should be submitted to the E&T office. An unofficial transcript and resume must also be received by this date. Awards of past scholarships have been up to 2 awards of $1,100 each.
John B. Slater Scholarship
Any junior or senior, with a signed authorization for a major offered by the E&T Department, who has a GPA of 3.0 or better may apply. An application form and resume must be submitted to the E&T Department office. An unofficial transcript must also be received by this date. The scholarship is renewable. One scholarship of up to $1,500.00
is awarded.
Stephenson Engineering Scholarship
Any junior or senior, with a signed authorization for an Engineering and Engineering Technology major offered by the E&T Department, who has a GPA of 3.0 or better may apply. An application form and resume should be submitted to the E&T Department office. An unofficial transcript must also be received by this date. The scholarship is renewable. One scholarship of up to $1,000.00 is awarded.
CME - Engineering Scholarship
Must have a signed authorization for a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering major offered by the E&T Department, anyone who has a GPA of 3.0 or better may apply.

Gene Haas Foundation Machining Technology Scholarship
The Gene Hass Foundation was established in 1999 by Gene Haas, Founder and President of Haas Automation, Inc., the largest machine tool manufacturer in the United States. One of the primary goals of the Gene Haas Foundation is to provide financial assistance for students interested in manufacturing-based careers.
Gene Haas recognizes that the future of manufacturing in the United States is directly dependent on the availability of skilled workers. That future hinges on recruiting more students and developing quality training programs across the country. This scholarship illustrates their commitment to strengthening America's Future workforce.
Criteria
- High school graduates, undergraduates, or persons who hold a GED certificate will be eligible for this one-year scholarship.
- This scholarship is specifically designated for students enrolled in coursework focused on machining technology or a closely related field of study. For those students currently not taking classes, proof of class registration in a machining program is needed.

The task was to build a human-powered water distiller for use after natural disasters that compromise water purity. They finished fourth out of 19 teams.
