PROUD TO BE AN ABET-ACCREDITED PROGRAM
![]() |
ABET accreditation is a significant achievement, and we are proud to announce that our Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs have been awarded ABET accreditation. We have worked hard to ensure that our programs meet the quality standards set by the profession. And, because it requires comprehensive, periodic evaluations, ABET accreditation demonstrates our continuing commitment to the quality of our programs - both now and in the future. |
Our accreditation is important to the students we serve. It means that:
YOU SHOULD BE PROUD TOOWhen you choose an accredited program, you are choosing wisely. Accreditation assures that a program has met quality standards set by the profession. To employers, graduate schools, and licensure, certification, and registration boards, graduation from an accredited program signifies adequate preparation for entry into the profession. In fact, many of these groups require graduation from an accredited program as a minimum qualification. Be proud to choose an ABET-accredited program. Whether you study electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, ABET accreditation is an important indicator of your program's commitment to quality and may be a key to your professional future. |

One thing you have to do
CMU's engineering majors complete design projects as part of the curriculum. One example is the annual cardboard boat race for freshman engineering students, which was named one of the "101 Things You Gotta Do Before You Graduate" by Sports Illustrated on Campus.
The Department of Engineering and Technology at CMU is a Cadence University program member.
